Global chip shortage may continue until 2023

Time:2022-06-03 Views:2056
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo warned today that the global shortage of key semiconductors may continue until next year, or even longer.

According to Agence France Presse, in 2021, the covid-19 pandemic led to the closure of major suppliers in Asia, resulting in supply paralysis. When American consumers received a large amount of cash from government assistance, they began to frantically buy chip dependent cars and electronic products.

"However, I do not see the chip shortage alleviated in any meaningful way at any time next year." Ramondo told reporters after his recent trip to Asia.
