High power processing capacity, improve mobile user experience, and bring new opportunities for medical equipment and intelligent industrial technology
STMicroelectronics (ST for short; New York Stock Exchange code: STM), a global leading semiconductor company serving multiple electronic applications, launched a 100W wireless charging receiver chip, which is the highest rated wireless charging receiver chip in the industry and is oriented to the fastest wireless charging in the current market. A high-end smartphone with the largest battery capacity can be fully charged in less than 30 minutes by using STWLC99, a new chip of STWLC99 of STWL Semiconductor.
.
Francesco Italia, general manager of analog customized product department of STF Semiconductor, said: "Today, mobile phones are an important part of digital life, as well as an important business tool for many people. Our STWLC99 can significantly improve the charging speed, improve the availability of wireless chargers, and bring more benefits to users‘ lives. The unprecedented power processing capability of the chip has also changed the development prospects of battery powered equipment such as industrial tools, medical monitoring, drug pumps, mobile robots, drones, and extended the equipment Battery life, shorten charging time. "
In addition to improving user convenience, high-power wireless charging technology can also enable designers to create industrial equipment without power sockets and power lines, bringing various benefits to end users. Canceling the charging socket can save the space of the circuit board, strengthen the waterproof or dustproof sealing of the equipment, and facilitate the operation in a challenging environment.
Wireless charging technology can avoid troublesome wire entanglement. Independent mobile devices such as robots and unmanned aerial vehicles can be easily charged without machines or manual connection to the charging line.
STWLC99 adopts 4.859m x 4.859mm wafer level chip package (WLCSP), which is now in mass production.
Technical details:
The energy saving architecture of STWLC99 includes a synchronous rectifier with low RDS (on) MOSFET and a low dropout voltage regulator to transmit the electric energy received by the charger to the battery, while minimizing the loss and power dissipation.
The new product conforms to Qi 1.2.4 and 1.3 specifications, supports Qi Extended Power Profile (EPP), and adopts STSuperCharge (STSC) fast charging protocol specially optimized by STFA Semiconductor. When used together with STWBC2-HP transmitter solution of STWBC2-HP Semiconductor, this receiver chip can achieve a maximum charging power of 100W.
STWLC99 uses on-chip nonvolatile memory to save configuration parameters, and exchanges configuration data and charging control commands through I2C interface. The chip has a full set of built-in safety protection functions, including accurate foreign matter detection for current detection, Q factor detection for transmission mode, and over-current, over-voltage and overheating protection.
STWLC99 can also be used as a charging transmitter to charge other devices, with a maximum power of 25W.
