Diodes Corporation Launches High Current, High Precision LDO for Noise Sensitive Power Conversion Product Applications

Diodes Corporation (Nasdaq: DIOD) has launched a rated 3A Low Voltage Differential (LDO) regulator that supports 4.4 µ VRMS operation (0.8V output voltage). AP7179D provides clean power supply, optimized for driving noise sensitive components such as high-performance SerDes, RF components, and data converters required for high-speed communication, testing and measurement, medical, and video product applications. This product can be used for hardware types such as remote radio units (RRUs), outdoor backhaul units, mMIMO active antenna systems, ultrasonic scanners, radar systems, and laboratory/field instruments.
AP7179D has an output accuracy of ± 1% in power, load, and temperature. This device supports a wide voltage conversion range with a maximum voltage difference of 180mV under 3A load current. Its low noise reference and error amplifier can achieve a minimum noise substrate. In addition, its 40dB power suppression ratio (PSRR) at 500kHz significantly reduces the coupling between input power noise and output.
This LDO has two output voltage selection modes: pin programmable mode from 0.8V to 3.95V, or adjustable mode using an external resistor divider from 0.8V to 5.5V. The flexibility it generates significantly reduces the number of auxiliary components required.
The low output noise of this device reduces phase noise and clock jitter generated by the power supply. This advantage and high current capability make this product compatible with high-performance processors such as FPGA, ASIC, and DSP.
