Power amplifier POPO sound solution

POP sound

 Generally, after the chip is turned on, an impact is input from the sound source, resulting in an impact on the output, which sounds like POP sound. Most of the POP sound schemes are caused by this situation.

Waveform analysis Figure 1: Figure 1 above shows that the number 1 is the output waveform, the number 3 is the input waveform, and the number 2 is SD or EN: from the figure, we can see that the chip is working at a low level, and the chip is always in the working state, and then turn on the main control sound source: when the main control is turned on, it will generally cause an impact. Look at the number 3 input waveform, there is a small impact, but the number 1 output becomes a large impact, which is due to the amplification of the chip, and also amplifies the impact waveform.

Solution: The waveform shape of the original 2 in the figure below is the same. The white line is the manually changed waveform. It needs to change SD or EN to open after the output shock.

Waveform analysis Figure 2: Since it is transmitted from the input, set the working state of the chip to off at this moment, and the POP sound will disappear naturally. If the chip is turned on at a low level, it will be turned on at a high level before the arrival of the POP sound, and let the chip turn off the output sound. After the impact time at the input end has passed, set the SD to low, open the chip, and the chip will work normally, and the POP sound will be normal

matters needing attention:

1. Sometimes there is a POP sound when the whole scheme PCB closes the SD, which is also caused by the improper SD pull-down time when closing according to the above methods

2. The general value of BYPASS capacitance of the chip is about 105, which may be related to the POP sound start time. (The relationship between different chips is different. No BYP capacitor is needed. The chip is built with OPA stable at this level.)

3. The input capacitance of the power amplifier should not be too large, which may cause the POP sound to increase.
