Testing of Fever Sound Systems

Time:2023-08-08 Views:685
Most audio enthusiasts have this experience: how come they feel good about recording at home but don‘t perform well when they receive it from someone else‘s home? Similarly, listening to a recording at someone else‘s house and feeling good about it is not very good to get it at one‘s own house? Why is there such a result? The problem clearly lies in the word ‘bias‘. Everyone‘s audio system is somewhat biased
Why does this‘ bias‘ arise? The fact is that in most households, due to equipment matching and spatial factors, their sound systems tend to have a particular tendency towards one side. This characteristic can actually be called ‘bias‘. What are the consequences of bias? Some CD recordings are just right for your bias, while others are not. Those who are suitable will think it is a good recording, while those who are not suitable will naturally feel that the recording effect is not good. Usually, the more biased the sound system is, the more likely it is that when listening to music, there are only a few CDs that you feel are good at recording, while the majority of CDs that you feel are not good and cannot accept. The less biased the sound system is, the wider the acceptable recording effect will be.
Perhaps you may ask, in this way, is it because there is no bias that all recordings are considered good? No! There is a general standard for the quality of recording, and it does not become a good recording simply because there is no bias. What I want to say is that the more there is no "biased" sound system, the more it is generally acceptable for various CD recording effects and does not feel unable to listen. But if we want to carefully evaluate the quality of the recording, there are still high and low points. Of course, the one with good recording results is always the minority. Bias can make people think that only I am right and everything else is wrong.
What harm will the sound system do if it is severely biased? Firstly, due to the "bias" of our own audio system, we are often blinded and unaware, easily falling into the trap of adjusting the audio towards the bull‘s horn. Secondly; Due to "bias", we often have a tendency towards certain recording habits that are out of place with others. I often emphasize that the most important thing to adjust the sound system is‘ overall balance ‘. If the sound system loses its balance, it is equivalent to severely distorting the music that the musician has diligently performed. When the music is distorted, the music played by first-class musicians will also become the same as that played by non mainstream musicians. Similarly, the more biased your sound system is, the more distorted the balance of your sound effects will be. In such a situation, there are few opportunities for you to truly enjoy the beauty of music.
How can we avoid the "bias" of the audio system? I would like to emphasize once again that everyone‘s audio system is inevitably biased, and there will be no exceptions. The point of the question is, you must know where the "bias" actually comes from? Then try to adjust in the correct direction as much as possible to reduce the degree of bias. In this way, you can enjoy balanced musicality. If you are unable to reflect on your own ‘biases‘, you often fall into the fog of‘ everyone else is wrong, only I am right ‘. Therefore, how can we avoid the "bias" of the audio system? Firstly, you must open your heart and acknowledge the fact that there may be bias. Next, with a broader inclusiveness, examine the differences between one‘s audio system and others.
Five CDs as a tool for detecting bias
The problem arises again. For someone with limited audio experience, even if they have the intention to test how much "bias" they have, they may not be able to start. Here, I provide five CDs as a tool to test the degree of "bias" in my audio system. Using these five easily available CDs, you can conduct a delivery test for yourself. Perhaps you would say: Aren‘t these five CDs the ones you selected under your own bias? Is it possible to treat my bias with your bias? You have a point, but I have tried to minimize the possibility of such bias. Because these five CDs have all been tested by me on many different occasions, not just on my own system. Also, I have tested these five CDs on my static earphone system. Do you remember when I said that adjusting the sound system can be taught by headphones? Because earphones suffer the least pollution, they only pass through the signal source without being contaminated by the front, rear, speakers, or space, their credibility should be the highest. So, the five CDs I have selected should serve as biased testing tools.
The first level, high-frequency should not be sharp and harsh, and should have a sweet taste
The CD used in the first level is‘ Four Seasons‘. This‘ Four Seasons‘ is played by Giuliano Carmignola (Divox CDX 79404). He is dedicated to studying music in the early 18th century, using instruments and manuscripts from that time to speculate on the interpretation of music at that time. Therefore, although the versions of the Four Seasons are popular all over the world, his interpretation is very creative (or returning to the original point), full of vitality everywhere, without any clich é s, and is a very enjoyable performance. Due to the use of antique instruments by this band, compared to modern string groups, its sound lines are clearer, thinner, and the tone is also harder. However, the clear sound quality, bright timbre, and sweet taste it emits are also very charming. Furthermore, the organization of this band is very small, with only eight or nine people, so the performance of each instrument is very clear.
When listening to this CD, if you feel the sound is too hard and uncomfortable, the strings only show thin and sharp lines, and you won‘t enjoy the sweetness at all. That means that your audio system is biased towards a direction that is too bright and sharp, and the mid and low frequencies may not have enough volume. Moreover, as this band does not have low-frequency "heavy weapons," the entire CD maintains a clear, transparent, lightweight and agile atmosphere at all times. In such an atmosphere, you can also feel the slight elasticity of the low-frequency band.
Once again, I would like to remind you that the characteristics of this CD are clear and bright, but with a sweet taste. If there is no sweetness, or if it is low-frequency and rich, it is not right. Even more so, it sounds sharp and harsh.
